In a unexpected crossover event that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Revealed

According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden group.

The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Metamorphoses

The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Bonus Content

Players who finish the adventure will acquire an unique katana together with numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

Third Free Story Update

This update also introduces the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
